{"schema":"threatline.record/2","record":{"id":"CVE-2026-97566","aliases":[],"summary":"mptcp: pm: kernel: drop pending ADD_ADDR when removing ID0","details":"In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:\n\nmptcp: pm: kernel: drop pending ADD_ADDR when removing ID0\n\nThe in-kernel MPTCP path manager can leave a stale ADD_ADDR announcement\nentry alive when removing the id 0 endpoint. This happens because the id 0\nremoval path does not tear down pending announcements, unlike the non-zero\nid path.\n\nWhen the PM later reselects id 0 after adding another signal endpoint, it\nfinds the stale anno_list entry and hits WARN_ON_ONCE(mptcp_pm_is_kernel())\nin mptcp_pm_announced_alloc().\n\nRoot cause: asymmetry between removal paths.\n- Non-zero id path: mptcp_nl_remove_subflow_and_signal_addr() calls\n  mptcp_pm_remove_announced() to clean up.\n- Id 0 path: mptcp_nl_remove_id_zero_address() skips cleanup entirely.\n\nFix by making the id 0 path symmetric: call mptcp_pm_announced_remove()\nand decrement add_addr_signaled before queuing the RM_ADDR.\n\nSubtle detail: signal endpoints are stored in anno_list with port 0, but\nmsk_local carries the connection's local port. In other words, entries\nlinked to ID0 paths should have port == 0. A follow-up patch will ensure\nthat. mptcp_pm_announced_remove() uses use_port=true for comparison. So\nclear the port before the lookup.","categories":["Operating systems"],"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","ecosystem":null,"affected_ranges":[{"source":"CVE List","source_url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-97566","source_modified_at":"2026-10-21T12:53:19.223Z","fetched_at":"2026-10-23T18:45:31.882637Z","product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","versions":[{"version":"740d798e8767d8a449902b1a1bbc70facfce19b5","lessThan":"189d60057e5f3d6a62e3d71a3cc428c9150bc14f","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"740d798e8767d8a449902b1a1bbc70facfce19b5","lessThan":"bacf23e7c9876c9f4170166b3597cb22ea3ed39b","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"740d798e8767d8a449902b1a1bbc70facfce19b5","lessThan":"d4a67a880654e1bfe318a31bea0bdbb026a09ade","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"740d798e8767d8a449902b1a1bbc70facfce19b5","lessThan":"545616b4e7325be3c61fc082538cb06d14f7b1db","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"740d798e8767d8a449902b1a1bbc70facfce19b5","lessThan":"2ac7d6e620764f1fc79eb4edd3610a7a661981ca","status":"affected","versionType":"git"}],"defaultStatus":"unaffected"},{"source":"CVE List","source_url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-97566","source_modified_at":"2026-10-21T12:53:19.223Z","fetched_at":"2026-10-23T18:45:31.882637Z","product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","versions":[{"version":"5.13","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","lessThan":"5.13","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.6.160","lessThanOrEqual":"6.6.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.12.112","lessThanOrEqual":"6.12.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.18.53","lessThanOrEqual":"6.18.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.2.7","lessThanOrEqual":"7.2.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.3","lessThanOrEqual":"*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}],"defaultStatus":"affected"}],"fixed_versions":[{"source":"CVE List","source_url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-97566","source_modified_at":"2026-10-21T12:53:19.223Z","fetched_at":"2026-10-23T18:45:31.882637Z","package":{"name":"Linux","ecosystem":null},"version":"189d60057e5f3d6a62e3d71a3cc428c9150bc14f","basis":"first unaffected version stated in the CVE record"},{"source":"CVE List","source_url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-97566","source_modified_at":"2026-10-21T12:53:19.223Z","fetched_at":"2026-10-23T18:45:31.882637Z","package":{"name":"Linux","ecosystem":null},"version":"545616b4e7325be3c61fc082538cb06d14f7b1db","basis":"first unaffected version stated in the CVE record"},{"source":"CVE List","source_url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-97566","source_modified_at":"2026-10-21T12:53:19.223Z","fetched_at":"2026-10-23T18:45:31.882637Z","package":{"name":"Linux","ecosystem":null},"version":"2ac7d6e620764f1fc79eb4edd3610a7a661981ca","basis":"first unaffected version stated in the CVE record"}],"cvss":null,"severity":null,"kev":{"listed":false},"epss":{"probability":0.002,"percentile":0.09321,"score_date":"2026-10-23"},"published_at":"2026-09-25T10:21:53.068Z","modified_at":"2026-10-21T12:53:19.223Z","provenance":[{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-97566","fetched_at":"2026-10-23T18:45:31.882637Z","source_modified_at":"2026-10-21T12:53:19.223Z"},{"source":"EPSS","url":"https://api.first.org/data/v1/epss?cve=CVE-2026-97566","fetched_at":"2026-10-23T18:42:43.628194Z","source_modified_at":"2026-10-23"}],"sources":["CVE List","EPSS"],"references":[{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/189d60057e5f3d6a62e3d71a3cc428c9150bc14f"},{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/bacf23e7c9876c9f4170166b3597cb22ea3ed39b"},{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/d4a67a880654e1bfe318a31bea0bdbb026a09ade"},{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/545616b4e7325be3c61fc082538cb06d14f7b1db"},{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/2ac7d6e620764f1fc79eb4edd3610a7a661981ca"}],"locations":[],"motoko_assessment":{"status":"requires_architecture_review","automatic_remediation":false},"cve_state":"PUBLISHED","classification":{"method":"product-first software-layer rules","rules_version":"2.1","matched_on":"product","confidence":"heuristic","reviewed":false},"change_timestamp":"2026-10-21T12:53:19.223Z","content_hash":"94ec93146c4179a9522560e77536c2e93be5477051d591d151d0dafb00bf3d80"}}
