{"schema":"threatline.record/2","record":{"id":"CVE-2026-54630","aliases":["GHSA-w5m7-3xf7-6g7g"],"summary":"Part-DB: Authenticated RCE via .phar attachment upload served from public/media","details":"Part-DB is an open source inventory management system for electronic components. Prior to version 2.12.1, the part attachment upload handler stores uploaded files under the web-served media directory using the client-supplied file extension, and its extension blocklist does not include phar. AttachmentSubmitHandler::renameBlacklistedExtensions() rewrites dangerous extensions (php, phtml, sh, cgi, py, js, html, htaccess, ...) to .txt, but phar is absent from the list, so a .phar file keeps its extension. Public attachments (the default) are written into public/media/, which is the Apache document root. The shipped Apache configuration routes .phar to PHP-FPM, so the stored file is executed as PHP on request. The per-attachment-type extension filter is empty by default and is not consulted by the upload handler in a way that blocks this, and a non-admin user in the default users group can create an attachment type with no filter and attach files to parts. Any authenticated user in the default users group uploads a .phar attachment to a part and fetches it under /media/, executing arbitrary PHP as the www-data web user. Ability to exploit depends on the webserver config, docker image contained the vulnerability by default. This issue has been patched in version 2.12.1.","categories":["Unclassified"],"product":"Part-DB-server","vendor":"Part-DB","ecosystem":null,"affected_ranges":[{"source":"CVE List","source_url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-54630","source_modified_at":"2026-10-23T03:48:59.951Z","fetched_at":"2026-10-23T18:42:43.628194Z","product":"Part-DB-server","vendor":"Part-DB","versions":[{"version":"< 2.12.1","status":"affected"}],"defaultStatus":null}],"fixed_versions":[],"cvss":9.6,"severity":"Critical","kev":{"listed":false},"epss":{"probability":0.00234,"percentile":0.13475,"score_date":"2026-10-23"},"published_at":"2026-10-23T03:48:59.951Z","modified_at":"2026-10-23T03:48:59.951Z","provenance":[{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-54630","fetched_at":"2026-10-23T18:42:43.628194Z","source_modified_at":"2026-10-23T03:48:59.951Z"},{"source":"EPSS","url":"https://api.first.org/data/v1/epss?cve=CVE-2026-54630","fetched_at":"2026-10-23T18:42:43.628194Z","source_modified_at":"2026-10-23"}],"sources":["CVE List","EPSS"],"references":[{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://github.com/Part-DB/Part-DB-server/security/advisories/GHSA-w5m7-3xf7-6g7g","tags":["x_refsource_CONFIRM"]},{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://github.com/Part-DB/Part-DB-server/releases/tag/v2.12.1","tags":["x_refsource_MISC"]}],"locations":[],"motoko_assessment":{"status":"requires_architecture_review","automatic_remediation":false},"cve_state":"PUBLISHED","cvss_source":"CVE List","classification":{"method":"product-first software-layer rules","rules_version":"2.1","matched_on":null,"confidence":"unknown","reviewed":false},"change_timestamp":"2026-10-23T03:48:59.951Z","content_hash":"921b91914e9b0d451fb067be0405ceab104614a0c78d479b43c3df893f88ae2c"}}
