{"schema":"threatline.record/2","record":{"id":"CVE-2026-110653","aliases":[],"summary":"Appointment Booking Plugin <= 5.7.4 - Unauthenticated Authentication Bypass via Race Condition on OTP Attempts Counter","details":"The Appointment Booking Plugin – LatePoint | Calendar & Scheduling for WordPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Authentication Bypass via Race Condition in all versions up to, and including, 5.7.4. This is due to a non-atomic read-modify-write on the OTP verification attempts counter in the `verifyOTP` function: the counter is incremented using a stale in-memory value with no conditional `WHERE attempts < 10` guard on the `UPDATE` and no `SELECT ... FOR UPDATE` row lock, creating a TOCTOU window that allows concurrent requests to bypass the 10-attempt lockout. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers — who know a target customer's registered email address or phone number — to fire concurrent requests to the `auth__verify_otp` endpoint, defeat the lockout cap, brute-force the 6-digit OTP code, and authenticate as the targeted LatePoint customer, gaining full access to their account, bookings, and personal data. The nonce check present on the endpoint (`otp_verify_otp_nonce`) does not mitigate this issue, as the nonce is publicly emitted by the unauthenticated `request_otp` and `resend_otp` endpoints and is trivially obtainable by any unauthenticated attacker prior to launching the race.","categories":["Applications & CMS"],"product":"Appointment Booking Plugin – LatePoint | Calendar & Scheduling for WordPress","vendor":"latepoint","ecosystem":null,"affected_ranges":[{"source":"CVE List","source_url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-110653","source_modified_at":"2026-10-18T11:22:47.841Z","fetched_at":"2026-10-23T18:45:31.882637Z","product":"Appointment Booking Plugin – LatePoint | Calendar & Scheduling for WordPress","vendor":"latepoint","versions":[{"version":"0","status":"affected","lessThanOrEqual":"5.7.4","versionType":"semver"}],"defaultStatus":"unaffected"}],"fixed_versions":[],"cvss":9.1,"severity":"Critical","kev":{"listed":false},"epss":{"probability":0.00403,"percentile":0.33408,"score_date":"2026-10-23"},"published_at":"2026-10-17T02:31:06.697Z","modified_at":"2026-10-18T11:22:47.841Z","provenance":[{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-110653","fetched_at":"2026-10-23T18:45:31.882637Z","source_modified_at":"2026-10-18T11:22:47.841Z"},{"source":"EPSS","url":"https://api.first.org/data/v1/epss?cve=CVE-2026-110653","fetched_at":"2026-10-23T18:42:43.628194Z","source_modified_at":"2026-10-23"}],"sources":["CVE List","EPSS"],"references":[{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/61fbc1dd-06c9-409b-8cad-3f350b38dfc3?source=cve"},{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/latepoint/tags/5.7.4/lib/helpers/otp_helper.php#L228"},{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/latepoint/tags/5.7.4/lib/helpers/otp_helper.php#L185"},{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/latepoint/tags/5.7.4/lib/controllers/auth_controller.php#L30"},{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/latepoint/tags/5.7.4/lib/controllers/auth_controller.php#L14"},{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/latepoint/tags/5.7.4/lib/models/model.php#L773"},{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/latepoint/tags/5.7.5/lib/helpers/otp_helper.php"}],"locations":[],"motoko_assessment":{"status":"requires_architecture_review","automatic_remediation":false},"cve_state":"PUBLISHED","cvss_source":"CVE List","ssvc":{"exploitation":"none","automatable":"yes","technical_impact":"total","assessed_at":"2026-10-18T11:09:42.337028Z"},"classification":{"method":"product-first software-layer rules","rules_version":"2.1","matched_on":"product","confidence":"heuristic","reviewed":false},"change_timestamp":"2026-10-18T11:22:47.841Z","content_hash":"c4847ac02a4db8fa58899688bb96cd1400de9fb7e3fcec3133aa5fb19340fcb9"}}
