{"schema":"threatline.record/2","record":{"id":"CVE-2026-104766","aliases":[],"summary":"Appointment Booking Plugin <= 5.7.3 - Authenticated (Custom+) Privilege Escalation to 'settings[default_wp_role_for_customer]' Parameter","details":"The Appointment Booking Plugin – LatePoint | Calendar & Scheduling for WordPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to, and including, 5.7.3. This is due to the `OsSettingsController::update()` handler iterating over attacker-supplied `settings` parameters without an allowlist of permitted setting names or values, and `OsSettingsHelper::prepare_value()` performing no role allowlist validation before persisting the `default_wp_role_for_customer` setting — a restriction that exists only in the UI dropdown and is never enforced server-side. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers holding a LatePoint role with the `settings__edit` capability (such as an agent or custom role) to overwrite the default WordPress role for new customers with `administrator`, causing any subsequently self-registered LatePoint customer account to be created with full WordPress administrator privileges. Exploitation requires that a WordPress administrator has granted the `settings__edit` capability to a LatePoint agent or custom role, and that a new customer account is registered through LatePoint after the malicious setting change is persisted.","categories":["Applications & CMS"],"product":"Appointment Booking Plugin – LatePoint | Calendar & Scheduling for WordPress","vendor":"latepoint","ecosystem":null,"affected_ranges":[{"source":"CVE List","source_url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-104766","source_modified_at":"2026-10-11T16:55:18.205Z","fetched_at":"2026-10-23T18:48:36.087640Z","product":"Appointment Booking Plugin – LatePoint | Calendar & Scheduling for WordPress","vendor":"latepoint","versions":[{"version":"0","status":"affected","lessThanOrEqual":"5.7.3","versionType":"semver"}],"defaultStatus":"unaffected"}],"fixed_versions":[],"cvss":8.8,"severity":"High","kev":{"listed":false},"epss":{"probability":0.00302,"percentile":0.21777,"score_date":"2026-10-23"},"published_at":"2026-10-10T05:30:57.307Z","modified_at":"2026-10-11T16:55:18.205Z","provenance":[{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-104766","fetched_at":"2026-10-23T18:48:36.087640Z","source_modified_at":"2026-10-11T16:55:18.205Z"},{"source":"EPSS","url":"https://api.first.org/data/v1/epss?cve=CVE-2026-104766","fetched_at":"2026-10-23T18:42:43.628194Z","source_modified_at":"2026-10-23"}],"sources":["CVE List","EPSS"],"references":[{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/38870e14-2e8f-4281-adb6-4be3b1d3d2ce?source=cve"},{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/latepoint/tags/5.7.3/lib/controllers/settings_controller.php#L469"},{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/latepoint/tags/5.7.3/lib/helpers/settings_helper.php#L754"},{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/latepoint/tags/5.7.3/lib/helpers/customer_helper.php#L297"},{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/latepoint/tags/5.7.3/lib/helpers/settings_helper.php#L953"},{"source":"CVE List","url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?reponame=&old=3728691%40latepoint&new=3728691%40latepoint"}],"locations":[],"motoko_assessment":{"status":"requires_architecture_review","automatic_remediation":false},"cve_state":"PUBLISHED","cvss_source":"CVE List","ssvc":{"exploitation":"none","automatable":"no","technical_impact":"total","assessed_at":"2026-10-11T16:38:26.953919Z"},"classification":{"method":"product-first software-layer rules","rules_version":"2.1","matched_on":"product","confidence":"heuristic","reviewed":false},"change_timestamp":"2026-10-11T16:55:18.205Z","content_hash":"6b38fcf7acefcf62d462d24f962e0c9b60dca831c875c2aafcc019af1a1c25fa"}}
